To ensure the successful development of public transport in the region, continuously improve its cost-effectiveness and make buses and trains more attractive, the AVV (Aachener Verkehrsverbund) focuses on four core areas of activity:
- Fares and marketing
- Transport planning and infrastructure
- Customer information
- At cross-border level:
- Creation of cross-border fare offers
- Integration of cross-border services
- Provision of up-to-date, interoperable timetable data
The AVV is also home to the Euregional Coordination Office, which coordinates public transport in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine. One example is the “Tickets, fares, marketing” working group, which meets regularly to achieve long-term uniformity in these areas across the various public transport ticket sales services.
The AVV’s Euregional Coordination Office regularly takes part in several EU projects. The results of these projects help to significantly improve cross-border public transport for EMR residents.
