Your questions about the Euregio Meuse-Rhine
Answers to the questions we are asked most often about cross-border cooperation, funding and how to get involved with us.
What is the Euregio Meuse-Rhine and which territories does it cover?
The Euregio Meuse-Rhine is a European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) that brings together five partner regions from three countries: the Aachen Region (D), the provinces of Liège and Belgian Limburg, the province of Dutch Limburg and the German-speaking Community of Belgium. Around four million people live there, and three languages are spoken.
Where can I find information on current cross-border projects?
The “Our projects” section presents the projects run or supported by the EMR, from the Small Project Fund to the Interreg programmes. Each project page links to the partners involved and to useful contacts.
How can I obtain funding for a cross-border project?
Several funds exist side by side, depending on the scale of the project. The Small Project Fund supports local initiatives, while Interreg Meuse-Rhine funds larger-scale projects. The “Our funding programmes” section sets out the conditions and deadlines of each scheme.
What are the fields of action of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine?
Four main areas structure the work of the EMR: “Business, innovation and the Einstein Telescope”, “Education, training and labour market”, “Mobility, security, health” and “Landscape and climate”.
How can I take part in cross-border initiatives?
Citizens, associations, schools and businesses can join existing projects or propose new ones. The EMR Office in Eupen will direct you to the right contact person: write to us via the Contact page.
