Border Information Points

The Border Information Points (GrenzInfoPunkte or GIP in German) in Aachen-Eurode and Maastricht offer free, tailor-made information and advice on working, living and studying in the neighbouring country. Employees, employers, jobseekers, apprentices, students, retirees and pensioners can turn to the Border Information Points with their questions and receive personal, independent and objective advice.

Depending on the needs of citizens and businesses, advice can be provided online, by phone or in person. Regular consultation days for cross-border commuters, with the participation of tax authorities, pension institutions, the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and other institutions such as health insurance funds, employment agencies and trade unions from Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, offer the opportunity to resolve problems in direct discussions with experts from these institutions.

Around twenty consultation days are held each year in the EMR building for cross-border commuters, entrepreneurs, business founders and creative professionals. German-Dutch and German-Belgian issues are the main focus of consultations at the Aachen-Eurode Border Information Point.

The Maastricht Border Information Point provides information on Belgian-Dutch issues. In addition to individual consultations, the Border Information Points continuously develop and update their website as well as leaflets and brochures, which are made available free of charge to citizens and businesses.
