EPICC - Euregio Police Information and Cooperation Centre
The Euregio Meuse-Rhine Police Cooperation Centre, also known as EPICC (Euregio Police Information & Cooperation Centre), is a joint centre dedicated to police cooperation in the border region.
Around thirty police officers from Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, together with representatives of the Dutch judiciary, work closely together there. EPICC was founded in 2005 on the initiative of NeBeDeAgPol (Police Working Group in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine).
EPICC aims to strengthen cross-border cooperation between police services and to support the fight against cross-border crime. At the same time, the centre helps to prevent offences and contributes to public safety and order in the border region.
Tasks
Exchange of police information
EPICC enables a fast and direct exchange of information between the Belgian (local and federal), German and Dutch police services. Requests for information are generally answered within the shortest possible time.
All information exchanged is recorded in a common database to ensure compliance with national and international legislation and to allow quick access.
Support for cross-border operations
EPICC supports police services in preparing and coordinating cross-border operations. This includes in particular:
-
Cross-border surveillance and pursuits
-
Joint patrols and large-scale checks
-
Operational investigations
-
Coordinated measures at events affecting several countries
Cross-border crime analysis
EPICC collects and analyses police information from the border region. On this basis, the centre provides the police services concerned with relevant operational information and helps to identify and monitor cross-border security problems at an early stage.
