Our governing bodies

The Assembly of the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) is the central decision-making body of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine (EMR). It sets the budget and adopts the work programme of the Euregio.

The Board is the executive body. It supports and steers the day-to-day activities of the secretariat in Eupen.

The presidency of the Assembly and of the Board rotates every three years between the partner regions. For the 2026-2029 period, Jos Lantmeeters, Governor of the Belgian province of Limburg, holds the presidency of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine.

Composition of the Board and the Assembly

The Board consists of two representatives per partner region. It supports the operational work of the EMR and ensures that decisions are implemented.

Each partner region delegates seven voting members and two advisory members to the Assembly, which therefore has 45 members in total. Various political and social levels are represented, from the legislative and the executive to the municipal level, as well as the business community. This ensures that decisions enjoy broad support and are taken with due regard for the realities on the ground.
