AInhard - Artificial intelligence supporting funding practice and regional development

AInhard is an initiative to use artificial intelligence (AI) in the practice of public funding and regional development. The project was developed by the Region Aachen Zweckverband (an inter-municipal association) and examines how AI can be used to make funding programmes, project development and administrative processes more efficient.

The name AInhard deliberately combines artificial intelligence (“AI”) with Einhard, the eminent scholar and adviser to Charlemagne. In the early Middle Ages, Einhard was an important chronicler and adviser at the court of Charlemagne, who resided in Aachen. Through this reference, the project symbolically alludes to Aachen’s historical role as a place of knowledge, counsel and European cooperation.

AInhard helps administrations and organisations to identify funding opportunities more quickly and to develop projects in a more targeted way.

The aim is to facilitate access to funding while making administrative processes more efficient and transparent.

Through the use of AI, AInhard can help to support project partners in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine in developing joint projects and to facilitate access to European funding instruments.

The AInhard project is exploring new ways of using digital technologies to support regional development and European cooperation.

The initiative thus not only symbolically echoes the historical adviser Einhard, but also aims to be a modern “adviser” on funding practice and project development in an increasingly interconnected European border region such as the Euregio Meuse-Rhine.
